That, my friend, is a very good thing. For what it's worth, my whole first trip through the steps was guided by 'knowing' where I was in the steps. It was like I found myself in the middle of a certain step. My head was there before I was conciously even aware of it.
I'd tell my sponsor things like, "I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but that's where my head is." And off we'd go.
