That sounds closely aligned to the Australian cultural version: 'everyone drinks...noone trusts a bloke who doesn't drink'...and all the networking palaver.
They're just excuses Ben. If drinking is really that fundamental to doing ones job or career advancement, there's a lot of teetotalers falling behind and missing out - and that's just not true.
