My Gosh, He's Writing About Me!
Ever been reading something when you realize you've been nailed, that someone got into your head and wrote about you? It happened to me with the following passage.
“My chronic ways of reacting to new situations came in patterns that I could see had a history dating from my childhood. I tended to read situations for signs of rejection and then close myself up to forestall it. I could reach out, but then I would withdraw very quickly if I thought I would be disappointed. I was an expert at figuring out what was expected of me and giving people what they wanted, but I did not always acknowledge what I wanted. All my trying to make it all right for my alcoholic family throughout my childhood, and here I am at the age of 62 in my 98th day of sobriety. Go figure?
