Take the time to pray ---
it is the sweet oil
that eases the hinge into the garden
so the doorway can swing open easily.

Praying is a means to attuning or bringing oneself into alignment with the power of the universe. We have often used prayer to plead with someone or something we thought outside ourselves and/or larger than ourselves. We hoped our prayers would be answered. We hoped because we feared. Without fear there is no need for hope. As we continue to mature spiritually we begin to grow beyond hope and fear. It is prayer that eases the way. We open our hearts in gratitude for the power of the universe, for the largeness of life. Gratitude opens us. We open into the universe. We breathe the universe and the universe breaths us.
Play with gratitude. Begin each day with a prayer of thanks. Whisper a simple thanks to the goddess, to the universe, or to the spirit of love. Counting your blessings is another way of understanding prayer. It is grateful recognition that opens us.
