So I thought it was going to be a long night. One of my old drug buddies (no idea how he got my new phone number) texted me to ask if I wanted to go get some dope with him. I said no but I'm not going to lie: it was the hardest I've had to try to say no. In fact I've been much less tempted and done it. He called me a little while later laughing: "You didn't think I was serious, did you? I told you I was quitting!" I wasn't sure whether to laugh or drive to his house to smack him. Maybe both! Well he was a little drunk so I was treated to a 30-minute monologue about his new hobby: gardening. It was like an anti-drug public service announcement on NPR. And just as easy to fall asleep to. Ha! It's cool. I'm proud of him for quitting and glad he was goofing around, and even more proud of myself for saying no.
