And it is Humes point, if I'm not mistaken, in the last two sentences that it become the determination of the mind to observe cause and effect without variation after a time, as your observations have become reinforced by habit, though the outcome is slightly different each time. I've heard it said that nature does not have laws, it has habits. I think this probably most accurately explains an evolving, breathing, chaoticly dynamic universe fraught with a multitude of variables that the human brain can only grasp but a fraction.
