Soul Asylum's entire album Grave Dancer's Union is sorta like this for me. It came out in 1993 or 1994 and it got me through some rough stuff as a teenager. Runaway Train was constantly on the radio and I latched onto it and bought the CD.

Later, trying to get off drugs, Cross Canadian Ragweed's album Soul Gravy got me through it. Which is weird since there's a song on there about smoking meth. But some of their other songs like Sick & Tired and Pay were really helpful. I don't know why I fell in love with this CD, it came out several years before, didn't often hear it on the radio.
