You know that old expression 'you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink...' ?
You can tell him how you feel (in however you guys communicate), you can suggest that his life will be way better if he stops again, you can pull the AA numbers and offer them..........but none of that is any guarantee that he'll stop. He has to do that on his own. I wish there were an easier way, but if there were some magic words or actions that could get them to stop drinking, we would not need to come to a place like this for support. Alcoholism is a b****rd.
