You seem to know how you feel and you have very good reasons to feel that way. Why in the world do we second guess ourselves every time our alkie flaps his lips? Oh yeah...I remember...we are sick too. They are masters at manipulating us and we get so tired of fighting it that sometimes we give up and go along. Personally I think that makes the whole dance last longer.
He made a choice to come home and detox without the benefit of professionals. In the interest of detaching (with love) I might pack him a picnic basket full of the things he might need, add one cooler of nice non alcoholic beverages...park them next to the bed he is occupying alone and go do some yard work.
