You can't stop, or you don't want to?
I ask this because I've known many alcoholics who said they couldn't stop, when the truth of it was they weren't ready. We all have choices, and if you make the choice to stop, I believe you will start attending meetings instead of picking up that first drink.
If you are sitting on the fence, it makes sense that you would opt to drink instead.
The progression of alcoholism can be swift, and often fatal. Why not make a decision that you won't drink today, and that you will go to a meeting instead? Ask for help while you're there. And tomorrow? Come here and post again, and make that decision that yet again you won't drink just for that day. It's really as simple as that.
You don't need to lose everything before you give up drinking.
