Yes, admitting that we're powerless over alcohol is part of Step 1 in the program of AA. Have you considered attending any meetings? Getting and staying sober alone is very difficult, for me it was impossible, I needed the help of people with successful recovery and I found it in AA.
I'm a single father with two kids. It is possible to be a clean and sober parent. Just for today, do everything you can to stay sober. Tomorrow you'll have the chance to do it all over again. Take it one day at a time and somehow it becomes manageable.
