I am an alcoholic and I can never have another drink. I'm okay with that, but like you I wanted to be able to control my drinking. I was very determined and wasted at least a year just trying over and over again to maintain control and failing. If you're an alcoholic you will not be able to drink again. If not, it should be no problem for you.
