And saying that in an age appropriate way that one of the adult problems going on is alcoholism is a good thing. You just have to be careful in how you say it so that she doesn't get the message that she is of less worth or anything like that. Explaining that her father has a disease is appropriate. Saying that his behaviors are no longer tolerable to you and that you have chosen to divorce because you and she deserve better in life is appropriate. Just keep it all at a level she can understand at her age.
