The author of that column apparently has never been cheated on...I think he/she would have a different view about it being both person's fault for the cheating otherwise. Just because someone unfortunately doesn't get love at home, it doesn't give them permission to cheat. It is still immoral and it is 100% the cheater's decision - not both partners!
Other than that...I liked the whole cause/effect idea.
