Everyday sober or clean is an accomplishment. It was
stated to me not too long ago that WE are really not
suppose to stay clean or sober. Why? Because if u
look at statistics WE cant stay clean or sober on
our on. Our on will power doesnt work alone.
However with a recovery program in hand
and support from each other so WE never
have to go thru this alone....it is possible
to stay clean or sober one day at a time....
That's it.....one day at a time.....We cant
go back for it will never return.....tomorrow
isnt here yet and there are no guarantees....
So focusing on JUST FOR TODAY......the
next 24 HOURS....even minutes a day if
needed is possible for us to stay clean or
sober.
We have a disease that requires us to
take our daily medicine......
Like visiting ur doctor if ur sick
and he gives u medicine to help
u feel better....and he tells u to
take it everyday ......
This works the same with our
disease....a trip to ur nearby
AA meeting for an hour a day
recieveing a daily dose of
ESH , encouragement, support
to help u feel better that day...
And whats so cool about it is...
it doesnt cost a thing.....not like
going to ur regular doctor...
Now where else can u go to
feel better and it doesnt cost
u a thing?
Pretty cool huh?
The commroderie...the fellowship
of our recovery program is
awesome....rewarding.....
To sit in a room filled with
total strangers with a common
goal ...a common purpose...
to learn to stay clean and
sober just by sharing what
brought u to those rooms....
what happened to you and
where r u now ...can actually
help someone when u least
expect it....
Just to listen to someone just
coming in ...beaten down...
desperate for help...to know they
are not alone....that someone to
the right of them is in the same
boat...same situation....and the
person to the left with a number
of yrs....sharing what brought
him there...why and what happened
to him and where he is now in his
recovery.....gaining insite from
them both to help you stay clean
and sober that day....
The joy of our fellowship is tremendous.
I need each of u even at my stage
of recovery.....Dont let the number
of yrs scare u because i am not
exempt from slipping.....the only
thing that is keeping me sober
today is working a recovery
program of action....on a daily
bases i practice the principles
of recovery to the best of
my ability in my everyday
affairs....
At work, in my private life....
around family, friends....and
i dont have to do it alone...never
alone....because there is always
someone just a call away....a
meeting away...to help me if
im weak....confused....hurting....
lost....and even when floating
on that pink cloud....filled with
joy, hope....
Grab the hand of a person to ur
right and the person to ur left
at a meeting ....let ur eyes look
upon all those standing in the
circle at the end of the meeting....
How AWESOME it is to have so
many of us helping each other
stay clean and sober.....
All the way from a day sober to
yrs sober....
