I think any diabetic or cancer patient ... would like to do the same.
This isn't about lack of will, or incentive, or motivation. It's not about strength of character or how 'good' or 'bad' a person we are.
It's about the inability to stop. And the inability to stop, even though we harm the self. The inability to stop even though we drive everyone around us ... away. It's about not being ABLE to not take that first drink, or the inability to walk past people we know are holding.
There's not a thing in the world weak about the understanding and admission that we are alcoholic, addicts ... or both. In fact it's quite the opposite.
The weakness ... is in the denial of it in the first place.
You're doing the right thing, and from your posts - you already know that.
And that's a good start.
