I had a really strange experience today. We had a going away party this afternoon for our deputy commander, and it was held in a bar. It was an open bar and there were finger foods, and I was concerned about the food and my willpower in sticking to my allergy diet. I actually brought my own orange and a couple of wheat free sugar free cookies so I wouldn't be tempted by the fried cheese sticks, fried mushrooms, chicken fingers, etc. It hit me while I was watching most of my co-workers get really drunk that I hadn't even worried about craving alcohol or missing alchohol at this party. I ordered an ice tea and didn't think twice about the beverages. It was so cool when that realization hit me. Here I was in a bar surrounded by free drinks and the only thing I had worried about was resisting the food. That was such an awesome feeling!
