Yes, an extensive study like that would be interesting. I truly love a good discusssion on symbolism, as it takes me back to the COfC days in lit class. I am reading "Moonlight, Madness and Magnolias" by Dr. Peter McCandless. Very detailed and rich history of mental illness and institutions thereof and asylums in South Carolina.
