Anvil said it best. When my ex & I worked a program, stayed away from the old "friends", did not go into bars & had a life completely different from what we'd known, we stay clean & sober. When my ex thought he could go see his girls who lived next to his old dealer, it was the beginning of the end. When I said I could go into a bar with him & drink Pepsi, it was the beginning of my relapse. Sad to say.....I made it back to recovery. My ex....is back to the "old people, places & things"...because it's the easier, softer way. Why do hard work when you have so many people who are willing to take care of you...give you a place to crash, food when you need it, a car, money, lawyers....& all you have to do is now & again say..."This time it will be different. This time I'm going to stop."
I found words mean nothing....it's the action that I look for.
