Great post. Actually, can also describe someone in active addiction. Or someone who is part of a "self-fullfilling" prophecy. My ex exhibits those behaviors when using. However, he has always passed the "waitress" test. He is always kind to others. Unless using, then the world is his enemy. They also didn't discuss that as time progresses they seem to feel that they belong with other "losers".

I guess, bottom line is that I'm not a therapist & why should I have to be a therapist if I live with a "loser".

Along this same line I've heard a discussion on whether or not a person has "mental" problems or are they just an addict. Some say yes, some say no. I tend to agree with those that say.....the substance use must be stopped before you truly know what you are dealing with.
