I heartily agree with this, and would like to share my experience with tapering off/cutting down. I can't tell you how many times I tried, and it worked for brief periods, but those in AA can tell you that alcohol is "cunning, baffling, and powerful". In short time I'd be drinking full speed ahead, and I usually returned with a vengeance, drinking more than I had before I tried to taper off.

I'm very familiar with anxiety attacks as I suffered from them in my first couple months sober. If I could make a suggestion it would be to see a doctor/physician and see what they recommend for you. Sleep will return, but first you need to detox. Please proceed carefully and with caution.
