Treatment Facilities

I have been prospecting treatment facilities. I am struggling with the idea of being cut off from the rest of the world (especially my family). What is the reasoning behind this? I thought the purpose of treatment was to prepare me to exist sober in the real world. Looking back on my past, I see that I often drank excessively to cope with issues that arose from my interaction with the real world. Some of these issues were related to school, career, relationships with women, and relationships with family members. How does my absence from the real word contribute to recovery? My goal is to remain in the real world and quit drinking for good. I know those issues I mentioned above will always exist. Will isolation from the issues really help me deal with them?
