Is it hormones or alcohol?

Hello all, back again for Day 1
I am 47y/o and was drinking a bottle of wine a night, then switched to vodka which would last about 2 days.
The last few months I have been experiencing hot flushes - it's worse in the evening and around every 2 hrs or so. I haven't had a monthly since April, so am wondering if it's the menopause or the alcohol making me sweat.
Does anyone else have experiences of this?

I suggest going and seeing a doctor to know for sure. In my opinion it is probably both the drinking and possibly change of life starting.

Withdrawal can definitely do that to you and so can hormone changes.
I donít think you will be able to tell until you are sober for awhile. Best wishes to you.

Thanks @MidWest1981, went to the doc today (for something else) and mentioned about missing monthlies so he has booked me in for a blood test next week. Checking for a whole host of things due to family history

I don't drink very much (a few times a year), but can say that I am 44 and my hot flashes come and go. I know it's ol menopause. I also know it can be miserable!

Just thought I would throw that out here, you are not alone!!!

Thanks Hopeful4, that's really kind of you!
I know it's only day 1 for me but these sweats on top of the alcohol has made me determined to address my out of control drinking

Probably both. Hot flushes or not it sounds as if you want to stop drinking anyway. Very good idea.

I am having another hot flush now as I type, but I do think it's the alcohol leaving my body that's aggravating it. At least I have stopped shaking, I think. I have yet to get out of bed and test my stability

Nightshade- I hope you are feeling better. I know those first few days are rough.

Nightshade, I guess it might be both. I still got hot flashes when I stopped drinking, but not as often.

Stay sober and see if you're still having hot flashes. I had that a lot when I was starting menopause. I took two herbal supplements for it and they helped a lot.

I hope our support can help you stay sober for good. Drinking will make anything worse.
