Midwest, good for you for getting out and hiking. The weather is better now for outdoor activities.

I bought lots of plants for my balcony planters on Sunday and have planted them. They look pretty good already, and I know they will be happy with the warmer weather which should come in a couple of days. It felt good to be out shopping for plants. I was a bit nervous, but everything was very organized and customers were safe.

Anne- the balcony planters sound really pretty. I have a few hanging baskets & a hummingbird feeder.

Felt my driving skills had been getting "rusty" so have been making a point of getting out in the car and driving a few miles each day;
remembering the routines from my exercise-class and doing them at home;
taking the time to prepare extra-nice meals for myself;
continuing with online church and cultural events.

Caramel- that is a great idea about the driving. I am glad to see you are taking good care of yourself.

I gave myself highlights & a pedicure. I get a haircut next week. I am excited about it.

Had a haircut myself, such a nice feeling to have some pampering with a shampoo and styling.
Was lucky to get in, made a point of booking-in the next appointment in four weeks' time!
Lovely to see other ladies emerging from the salon looking so happy.
Entered a supermarket for the first time in over 2 months, a little unsure but asked the staff at the entry and in the store who were very kind and helpful.
Good to select fresh veges; and to see friendly faces.

My flowers are blooming and look so pretty. I smile every time I look at them.

I'm keeping up with my weights and floor-exercises, most of the time.

My hair is getting long so the waves and curls are kicking in, right as the humidity is increasing. Crazy beach hair here we come. Who knows how this will end!

I sat outside and ate a sandwich and chips in a weedy but sunny patch, so that I was both social distancing but also getting a little outside time beyond walking or being in the forest (which is darker and I often don't want to sit down on a wet log). Just having these little "picnics" is better than taking all of my meals in my room, or late at night when no one else is in the kitchen.

Also, this is two things, but I actually did this for myself a week or two ago, I ordered a book called "Listening to Cougar" with essays about mountain lions, and it just arrived in the mail from Oregon today.

Anna- I got my haircut yesterday. It feels so much better. I hope you get yours soon too. Great job keeping up with the exercises.

BeckoningCat-the picnic sounds really nice.

I went to the gym and journaled today.

Midwest, it sounds like you're taking good care of yourself, as always. It's great that you had time to go to the gym.

Since I've been trying to find quiet places to walk, I've discovered a pond with two beautiful swans who are almost always gliding around together. It's so peaceful to sit and watch them.

Anna- I think swans are so neat! They are really beautiful.

I bought two new pillows for the bed yesterday. It's nice making my own money.

I'm sure it's nice to have your own money for things like beautiful pillows.

As for haircuts, no hair salons are open here and it will be at least a couple of weeks before it happens. Did you feel 'safe' during your haircut?

Anna- yes I felt safe during my haircut. The lady wore a mask and I did too. She only let a few clients in the shop at a time. We have only had 40 cases of covid in our county and 1 death. Also no new cases in a few weeks.

I am enjoying some quiet time before work.

I'm glad you're getting a few moments to relax, Midwest.

Our covid cases are 'finally' starting to drop off this week, so fingers crossed.

I've been walking 4 miles every day this week and it feels amazing!

Have had shingles involving the nerves of half my face and scalp since early June, no idea why, have been completely unstressed and very well-nourished lately. So no haircut for some weeks yet - again! - and generally keeping a low profile.
Counting it as progress that I went 6 hours without pain relief today.
Another couple of weeks should see more improvement.
