Midwest, I'm sorry your husband is drinking again. But, you are showing such great recovery in your attitude and by taking care of yourself. Hugs!

I bought a hanging basket of flowers and couple more small plants, finally! I am so excited by these silly flowers! So, that's my self-care for the day. And, I looked after my grandkids (6 & 8) and was so grateful they are happy to spend time with their grandparents.

MW, I'm also sorry your hubby is drinking again. Hopefully you'll be a good influence on him.

I just took the dogs for their morning poop walk. It's cooler than yesterday and breezy. We're supposed to get T storms today.

I sent an email to ek (eldest kid) asking her if I could visit them in MN this summer. They have four boys, ages 6, 8, 10, and 12. Two of them are autistic and cause quite a bit of trouble, so that's why I haven't visited in a long time. But I miss my grandkids and want to see them.

thanks for the support! It is amazing how much seeing him drunk is zapping my energy. I know there is nothing I can do about it. I am going to clean house in a minute and get moving. If it continues I'll go to the family and friend section.

Least- I hope it works out so you can visit your grandkids.

CreativeThinker- I hope you get that account and that things are going well at your house.

Anna- the new hanging baskets sound really pretty. I am glad you had a nice time with your grandchildren. Kids really do brighten up your day.

I ate healthy today and took my vitamins. I am going to clean house now and maybe exercise too...but cleaning house first. lol.

Hi Sistas

It's been a nice weekend for me thus far. Yesterday DH and I went out to dinner at a great upscale pizza place. The pizza was as good as any I ever ate in Italy. Today I worked out 50 min, then DH and I went to a local farmers market and picked fresh strawberries. I'm going to make strawberry shortcake for dessert tonight. I finally got on the scales and I lost another lb....woopty doo!

MW- I am exactly the same way with my weight, one day I will get on the scales and be up, the next day I have dropped. Hence the reason I don't way myself every week anymore. Sorry to learn that your husband is drinking again. Trust me, I can relate! At least your husband made it 3 months, that's great! What was it that caused him to relapse? Either way, hang in. My husband is drinking on and off. At least it's not every day like before.

Least- Yes...it's a Fitbit! After I posted the other day the name finally came to me. I know...they're pretty expensive. I'm still debating on weather to make the investment or just get a free app. I remember having one a few years ago on another phone. What might be fun is if we all downloaded the same app and then shared our walks with each other.

Anna- Glad you're excited about your new flowers. I know how you feel. After killing all of the herbs I planted in my kitchen, I went out and bought outside perennial flowers and they're doing really well.

Glimer- Great that you were able to spend time with your friend.

Pond- How did your eye exam turn out?

Ardy- I used to LOVE watching The Partridge Family. I had pictures of Keith (I think that's his name?) all over my bedroom.

Take care ladies...and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

CreativeThinker- it was the day before his birthday and his back was hurting. He said he would have just one and he has been out of it 3 days now. I stayed out all day today. I am glad things are getting better for me and you. It takes time....I suppose! I am afraid to weigh myself. I only do it once a month or every few months. I may do it again and see if I kept that 10lbs off. lol.

I did clean house and go to the gym. Enjoyed some dark chocolate too!

Welcome Pondlady (I'm a few days late, but welcome just the same!)

Had a lovely Father's Day weekend with Mr. Ringo. Found out Saturday evening that his son and friend were coming over for brunch Sunday at 10am. For a moment, I was upset then embarrassed that I'd completely forgotten that I probably wouldn't have my hubby all to myself on Father's Day.

I can be quite self absorbed. I said a quick prayer to change my attitude. (Thank you God, program and the 12 steps!) We had plenty of food so no running off to the store. Food is one thing we would never run out of!!

Everything turned out great.

Hoping everyone has a wonderful Monday.

WOW...it's so amazing how when the switch is flipped, we become completely different people, with a totally new attitude! Good for you for staying away. I guarantee you that he is kicking himself for relapsing. It happens, I've been there more times than I like to remember. What's important is that he gets back on track. If you went 3 months, I think he will.

My DH hasn't been drinking every day, but he's not committed to sobriety either. At least it's not every day anymore. I keep waiting for him to come to grips with the fact that he is an alcoholic but he is in too much denial. Today he is having lunch with one of his drinking buddies. I refer to the guy as Creepy Guy...lol. CG spent a lot of time at our home over the holidays and every time he came here everyone got plastered. He made me feel very uncomfortable...watched every move I made and constantly said inappropriate things. CG has not been invited to our home since I quit drinking. Anyway, no doubt DH will be drinking at lunch today.

I really hope your husband stays safe during his relapse and decides that he's ready to find recovery again.

Hugs!

Ardy- Your weekend in the country sounds wonderful. My husband and I went strawberry picking over the weekend too. SO much fun!

Ringo- Great recovery in dealing with Fathers Day brunch.

I worked out this morning for 40 min, made a fresh strawberry smoothie for breakfast and I'm making cauliflower soup for dinner. Still putting aloe on my sunburn...ugh!

Make it a great day everyone!

MW & CT, I really want to write something supportive, loving and profound and I keep erasing what I've typed. I can't always express what is in my heart (probably worried what others will think). I'm so glad you both are on this thread.

I think it's time for another inventory as how I behave and react in relationships keeps coming up in my thoughts.

CreativeThinker- thanks so much / the strawberry smoothie & cauliflower soup sound amazing and healthy.

Helen- I hope you enjoy the movie with your aunt! I am sure it will be great.

Ringo- thanks for being supportive! I am doing fine. I am just going to continue to take good care of myself.

This morning I made cupcakes for VBS. Chocolate with vanilla buttercream. They look really cute.

I took my vitamins and I think I am going to relax and watch some Hulu and exercise in a little bit!

Today it's nice and cool so I took Billie for a ride to the jewelers downtown. They are going to make me a ruby earring to match the one I lost. Billie waited in the car, looking out the window and barking at everyone going past.

Got an email from eldest kid (ek) telling me that a short visit in the fall would be ok, as the boys will be in school and not hanging out at home causing trouble.

Hugs to all!

Happy Tuesday Sistas!

MW- Hope your husband is doing better. Mine went out to lunch with his drinking buddy yesterday and didn't return home until 12am...quite a "lunch"!

Ringo- Ask away...you shouldn't feel that you can't say what you have on your mind with all of us. MW and I could probably use some advice on how to deal with our DHs.

Least-As I was reading your post, I almost thought that you were going to say that you bought Billie a ruby dog collar lol

Helen- Hope you enjoyed WW. I was thinking about seeing it myself.

I worked out for 1.25hrs this morning, longest route yet. Then, went out and spent some $...lots of it...Coach bag, clothing, perfume, makeup...(DH's payback). Maybe he'll think twice the next time he's out all night drinking. When I got home he asked what I bought. My response..."Oh, a few things"

Enjoy the rest of the day ladies!

Ringo, I always appreciate your posts and your words. It's hard for me to say what's in my heart, too. But, we are here for each other. And, we don't always have to say uplifting things. Sometimes, we're just here and that's enough.

Helen, I hope you enjoy WonderWoman!

Midwest, I bet your cupcakes will be a hit and the group will love them.

Least, I am thrilled that you are going to be able to visit your daughter and grandkids. That will be so much fun for you. And, good for you for ordering another ruby earring. I have a few single earrings sitting in my drawer.

MW and CT, I have no advice for you on how to deal with your situations, but I have so much admiration for both of you. You both have a lot to deal with and are maintaining your own recovery and offering support to others.

My sister-in-law surprised us by planning a visit here in a few weeks and I am so happy. I am already thinking of things we can do. Tomorrow is a bone density test and mammogram, so those will be my self-care.

Ardy, I can almost taste those fresh picked strawberries , and sitting under the stars sounds divine.

Anna, Taking care of our health is an important part of self care, so good for you and enjoy planning a fun visit with your sister in law.

least, I'm glad to hear you're going to make a visit to see your daughter and grandchildren, it'll be a nice break in your daughter's daily routine.

I went to water aerobics today and it felt wonderful and was easy on my ankle...which I sprained on Saturday. I'm trying to not feel sorry for myself, that I can't go to my regular exercise classes, but give my ankle time to heal.

Pondlady- my mom does water aerobics. She loves it. It is easy on her knee. I hope your ankle heals soon.

Least- I am glad you are going to go visit your daughter and grandchildren! That will be a fun trip! I am glad you replaced your earring too.

CreativeThinker- oh no. I am sorry to hear about the lunch. I know that is stressful because it is hard not to worry. / The workout sounds great! I didn't work out yesterday because I had a headache. I am going to today for sure. The shopping sounds fun too.

Anna- the cupcakes were a big hit!! The kids really enjoyed them. I made the frosting green and put checkered flags on them.. The kids even took their little flags home. / I am glad you are getting some test done tomorrow. I always get my tests done too. It is important self care.

I am going to exercise today and take my vitamins. I need to clean house and do some organizing.

Morning all,

Helen, is WW worth seeing in the theater or shall I wait for Netflix?

Anna, you've reminded me that I have a mammogram referral sitting at home for months now that's gotta be done by Sept or it expires. Thanks.

Least, so glad you get to visit your daughter and grandchildren. I usually go to Idaho once a year for a long weekend visit to see my step-daughter and three grandchildren--but not this year. Their mother says everyone is too busy with weekend activities. I want to write them an explanation for my absence that does not slam their mother.

I took care of myself yesterday by leaving work 1 hr 15 min early because I didn't sleep well the night before. Had an early dinner with Mr. Ringo, we took a nap, then he went off to work, I watched a little TV, read and slept all night. Alarm rang for 22 minutes before I heard it. Feel great right now!

Good Morning Sistas,

Sounds like everyone is doing well. It's another nice day here today and I plan to enjoy it. I'm going for my workout after journaling, then getting my hair cut this afternoon. Wish me luck, I've never been to this stylist before. Hope she gives me a fab doo!

Ringo- Glad you got a good nights sleep and you were able to leave work early. Since I'm still new to recovery (4 months tomorrow) I am enjoying the novelty of being able to sleep through the night and waking up feeling fresh.

MW- Yeah, the lunch outing was not so uplifting. I recently learned that there are a couple of hours of when he was gone that are unaccounted for. Never a dull moment here! All will be addressed at next weeks therapy session. On the upside, I'm down 12lbs. Who knows, next week I will probably be up again.

Pondlady- I love water aerobics. I haven't done it in a long time. Hope your ankle heals quickly. Injuries suck!

Anna- So glad that you will be spending time with your SIL! You reminded me too that I need my annual mammogram.

Make it a great day ladies!
