I found SoberRecovery While halfway through a long term therapeutic community program. I love my life today, a year ago I was in bad shape. Addicted to meth, alcohol, living in my car, wishing I were dead. Now I have hope and everyday is a new opportunity to continue building the future I never thought could be possible. :bundance |

Welcome, givingback! I'm so happy for you. :) Sounds like a wonderful program. |
It's great to have you with us, givingback. Being here has helped me stay strong & vigilant. Congratulations! :) |
Sharing experience, strength and hope... Whilst it's true that I have now, a day at a time, been sober since the 15th of Feb.,2008. I'd like to think I'm not that complacent, vain or arrogant nor still riven with thee recovering alcoholics biggest enemy, ego...hang on to your ego and you'll never recover from anything! Not to welcome others who were once liked me, and whom whilst accepting that sobriety is an individual responsibility, no one can do it for you. You can both both help others whilst at the same time helping yourself, by sharing your experience, strength and hope...in which you can also learn to forgive others and perhaps most importantly yourself. Thanks for showing up and helping me!:thanks |
Alone and Ashamed on my Couch I found this website a few days ago, Tuesday Feb 4th 2020 after waking up from a full day of drinking the day before. I was hungover, full of self-hatred, and terrified of the husband and father I was turning in to. It had been 12 years of heavy drinking, secretly. I wanted to anonymously admit to someone - anyone - that I had a drinking problem, though I had admitted it to myself, hundreds of times, for years. I had told no one else in my circle of family, friends, or church. I decided to just get on the internet and do a search for "anonymous admission of addiction" and one of the first links was from a member on this site doing just that -- admitting that he/she had a problem. After posting on this site, I now feel that I am held accountable to more than just myself, and owe I it to the members of this site to continue posting daily about my struggles and my success (so far). |
We are here to listen, to share, to support, showing care and understanding to all who are willing to learn how to achieve success in living a sober life incorporating many helpful tools and knowledge of addiction and recovery in their daily lives. While sharing our experiences, strengths and hopes with each other, we are not only helping them, but we are also helping ourselves strengthen our own recovery at the same time. Support in the fellowship of recovery to all. :) |
