I signed up for my first account in 2006 when I first sought medical intervention for my alcoholism (I lost that account - this is now my oldest from 2009). It was an awful experience and took me 3 years to get the courage to try again.
I tried every medical option with limited success and then managed to quit "alone" (with benzos for safety from seizures) in 2015. Unfortunately I immeditely moved to opioids.
They got my health back in check but cost a motza so I know I needed to stop too. I've been in an and out of methadone / subs since 2017 and manage many months at a time, but I keep going back.
Having quit Nitrous Oxide (yes it's a real issue), cigarettes, and alcohol, I have faith that in time I'll manage this too. Every time I get a bit closer.
Looking where I was in 2006 I never would've believed I could have put down the drink for a week, let alone 7 years, so it can be done. Keep seeing doctors, getting your bloodwork, trying their treatments, and (if it's your thing) go to AA/NA/SMART meetings. Your life is worth it to you and so many others.
Love and peace - I know you need it.
