I'm here
 

So I've found Sober Recovery - this thread seems as good a place as any to gently nudge my way into the circle.

In terms of where I am, I'd say "getting sober" is a decent description of where I am along the line. I've not used alcohol in just over 4 months.
How did I get here? A choice. My relationship with alcohol turned sour a few years back, like many stories I've read so far on these boards, I couldn't break away from it. I was led to one simple choice, my life with or without alcohol. There couldn't be any grey area, it was all or nothing.

So I'm here, thankfully. I'm hoping I can draw inspiration, insight and at times strength from what others like myself are dealing with. I'm looking forward to meeting some of you.
