Club DJ, Free Drinks, Paid Party Lifestyle

That's where I was. A lifestyle that people would kill for.

Free drinks, amazing parties, better women.......

And yet alcoholism gets me. Twice. And now back to recovery for a second time and none of that stuff matter. I would give all of that, and my bloody right arm, all for sobriety and peace of mind.

I used to be a musician, so I get where you're coming from...maybe less of the women in my personal experience though :)

It seems several light years ago tho - I like where I am now.

Glad you've joined us GL

Sounds like a life style that people die for. Each to his own but that doesn't sound good to me

AH is a musician - and actually I think it is his unachieved calling. He isn't as much a performer as he is a basement writer. Trying to encourage his music but its so hard as the usual place to play is parties and bars - been there wayyyy tooo many nights at 2am.

Would like to encourage his music and the idea of sending things out - he's not a lyricist but has incredible music that words could be put to. Unfortunately I honestly can't take that project on as I'm already the wife of on AH with elementary age children. He just spent 28 days in rehab and was amazed at how many people there were musicians - I wasn't surprised....seems as though so many creative people find their "voice" in angst.

No alcohol is allowed in my house and while im here ive noticed throughout my life that ppl find creativity in drink and drugs i was the opposite i find all my real creativity in sobriety

just to clear that up

life without music is boring

I was talking about the OP.

I absolutely love music. I crank up the tunes and dance with the dogs. My tag line is a Rascal Flats tune which is even more powerful set to music. Life without music would be boring indeed. At this very second Peter Gabriel'a "Your Eyes" is stuck in my head

I was a drummer for a while, but my 'high-flying, near-celeb' lifestyle came actually from much more 'nerdy' endeavors.

I was a cocktail and spirits writer, a mixologist, a drinks industry lobbiest and brand ambassador, and (for my day job) a traveling field sales exec.

In other words, free drinks, VIP access to pretty much anywhere (oh- you'd like to meet and sit with Jennifer Aniston? Sure thing, sir!), and I only flew 1st class (more free drinks!). On top of that, as a drinks and spirits writer and historian, I was actually respected in the intellectual sense even more. Never hitting any real sort of (public) 'bottom', it's been especially hard to balance out the good with the bad for me.

Now? Everything is boring, and frankly, the people I meet and hang out with are boring (to me) as well. I have the hardest time with that.

I was also in the music industry. Some of the people out there are still at it, a lot are dead. :(

Last gig DJing though was for a little kids halloween party.

Gave glowing bracelets to grade schoolers instead of people on ecstasy.
Instead of drinking all I wanted and snorting coke, I ate too much candy.

Wouldn't trade it for the world.
