Where I was...
Where I was...
I was married to an alcoholic...for 9 months. I gradually became an alcoholic, but I was a "functional" alcoholic. I could drink and drink, get completely wasted, and not get a hangover. I would go to work, and from work (I was a nurse at a Rehabilitation/Nursing Care home) I would go straight to the bar where I would party up until Last Call. I always had a ride or a designated driver, so I never drove drunk or had any major concerns until I had a nervous breakdown after my boyfriend (and now my daughter's father) broke up with me and I ended up in a Mental Health Unit for a while. After I got out of the Mental Health Unit, I had planned on not drinking, but finding out I was pregnant 48 hours later cemented the fact that I couldn't drink...I had to watch out for my baby first. That is how I recovered from alcoholism. Since I've had my daughter, I have only drank once...on my 35th birthday. I haven't drank since.
ANYWAY, I was searching google for symptoms of opiate withdrawal when I found SR. I was going through a hard time, and had no one to talk to. I considered going in to rehab, but with my recent health problems, I don't think it would be a wise choice right now. It's comforting to see so many people having the same issues.
