Liver Tests.
Liver Tests.
Having consumed alcohol,in varying degrees, for over 50 years, with varying break periods, I got a bit of a health scare some seven months ago.
My 6 monthly blood tests showed a big spike in the liver enzyme GTT, usually associated with alcohol consumption. For years it had been up a little,51, over the max of 50; now it was 135.
An ultra sound and cat scan showed fatty liver and a small unidentifiable lesion.
I was referred to a gastroenterologist who said he wasn't too concerned and I simply cut my drinking down quite a bit. Slow learner, huh?
It was thought that the liver spike may have been caused by an anti depressant I had been prescribed six months earlier, so I stopped that, not the grog, assuming the a/d was the offender. As it turned out, that was the case.
However, with fatty liver and a questionable lesion, the penny finally dropped, round the time I found this forum, and I went 53 days for one lapse and today two weeks sober.
I really appreciate Sober Recovery; a great forum.
