I'm there right now.
I'm there right now.
Having mixed feelings about quitting for good.
I'm not a full blown alcoholic. But I'm at risk of becoming one, I think.
My problem with alcohol used to be much worse. I cut back a lot, but I'm gradually getting back in the habit.
Friday, I found myself chatting with some stranger online, telling him that I didn't love my husband. (Which of course is not true.) I was so ashamed the next day.
...
I was thinking about making 2012 an alcohol-free year but.... not sure.

Welcome to SR Ainsley
I found myself doing silly things when drunk too - and the stupid things got stupider and bigger & more dangerous....
my life is a lot more manageable now I'm sober

Recognition and acceptance...
It would be easy to be trite about your thread, and come out with well chosen sober analogies, or quote from passages in,'Alcoholics Anonymous', so I'm not going to do that, ok.
If you're concerned about your drinking,as you obviously are, there's one simple test, only you can answer it, and it's a test of your honesty and integrity, 'Is your drinking, costing you more than money?' If it is, you may have a problem with alcohol.
An honest answer, after you've fully examined your conscience and your life circumstances will lead you to the first steps of recovery, seen in the suggested 12 Step programme of recovery of ,'Alcoholics Anonymous'. Which effectively can be found in recognition and acceptance.
I hope this is of some assistance to you.
