Helping my H edit His book....

My H has written a book that he has draging around for the past 20 years. He has edited it himself several times and his brother who is also a professional writer, actor, director has also helped him and is going to do the final edit as well since he can type 145 wpm.

I am reading thru it again with my highlighter pen in hand. He is a good writer but, there are somethings I think he should change and his brother wants him to change too but, he is being a little stuborn about it. We are just considering the book's sellablity and want it to be a sucess!

Also we are going to have it translated into spanish and portugese because someone we know believes there is a market for the book in South America and is willing to promote it so what the he!!.

My H is driving me nuts and I hope that I don't choke him before we send the book to press....

I wish him the best! WOW! Writing a book is heavy work!
As far as the changes in the script, well, he probably looks at it as his "baby." And there's nothing wrong with our babies, now, is there? LOL!
Let it go. The publisher will take care of it, should it be a problem that needs to be addressed. And if he won't change it for a publisher, well...that's his choice. And he will own the consequences of those choices.
I wish you both well....
Don't strangle him yet...he might become a famos author!
Shalom!

Hi Splendra,

I can imagine that you are in a really difficult position and I don't envy you. Your husband probably sees this book as his 'baby' and you're trying to mess with it! Hang in there, from what I understand, an editors job is always tough.

Let us know when it is published.

Love, Anna

the book is about when he was living in Miami during the riots and doing lots of dope so there is a part of me that really wants to change some of the slant on things...he has promised to write some on recovery so I will shut up....

He really is a good writer and the book does get you on the edge of your seat. Most of it is true and that kinda pi$$es me off...
