Zen, I saw Henry Rollins and Black Flag around 1985 I believe. He was still a skinny kid with shoulder length hair. Crazy mosh pit, and very high energy. The guitarist, I think his name was Greg Ginn or something close, opened the show with a solo set, playing a lot of Jimi Hendrix. Definitely a memory.

Ha, loving all this talk of mosh pits. Wasn't my thing but my 'lil brother was a punker.

I'm hoping yesterday wasn't crazy busy at my gov job like yesterday was. Who schedules 3 hours of meetings on the same day? Like we got time for that!

Got that Friday feeling today, even though it's Thursday, a rare four days off (Friday and Monday are public holidays):celebrate

The gig I most enjoyed was Maze in '82 or '83 at the Hammersmith Odean. My friends were keen on going and I liked what I had heard but I wasn't THAT familiar with their songs. But everything was just right. Maze were not very big in the UK (I don't think they were huge in the States either) but they had a sort of cult following and 2000 people there knew every song and put out si much energy. Lead singer Frankie Beverley's voice was in it's prime and they seemed to be feeding off the audience as much as the audience were loving them.

Earth Wind & Fire, Prince and Micheal Jackson were brilliant too and much more of a spectacle but I was sort of expecting them to be (especially given the ticket prices)

My cousin was the concert goer, I have been to a handful, The Motels, Blue Oyster Cult, The Who and the best of them all was a Zappa concert 10 rows back front and center. Good times :D

When I was in high school, in Chicago we saw so many concerts. They were cheap back then compared to today's horrific prices to see certain bands. I was lucky enough to see almost everyone, they all came to Chicago. It was fun. In SF they have these little starter clubs. We used to go see Primus when they were just starting out and were friends with Les. I've been lucky to be in places with great music, although Chicago really has the edge. Great radio stations, like I said, everyone goes there. My sister and I just saw the Who not too long ago and they were awesome. They started with Tommy and I'd forgotten how great those songs were. One of the twins from Oasis, who I loved and the broke up-they can't get along. Liam was really good by himself but the twins are better together. I wish they'd get back together. My sister wants to go see Joe Jackson, who I love, but the tickets are outrageously expensive. We'll see.
Feeling much better today, thankfully. I can't believe how fast the weeks go. I need to make some phone calls. Blah!
It looks like a lovely day outside, a little overcast, but it will probably burn off later.

I wasn't a mosh pit person either. Long time since I've heard any Joe Jackson, he left Britain for New York in the early eighties (I think) and never came back.

Leisurely coffees this morning, have a grrreat day!

Same here. Big crowds made me nervous in a bad way. Hence my amped up stereo system was my concert experience to the annoyance of my neighbors.

Bed time was 16:30 last night. Then up at midnight to start my day. I believe I'm on London time. Hi Sao good morning from across the ocean :)

Zen, when did you see Zappa? I only saw him one time near the end of his touring days, though I have seen Dweezil many times. I remember seeing Blue Oyster Cult back in the day with the giant Godzilla on stage and Buck Dharma riding his Harley onto the stage. That's entertainment.

I agree about the crazy prices for tickets these days. I was interested in seeing Neil Young and Crazy Horse this summer. They are playing one of those giant outdoor sheds, as we call them here. Tickets for the seated area were 250 dollars. Same with Sting. My wife is a huge Police fan and I was going to surprise her with a couple tickets. Tickets were 275 dollars each. Andy Summers, the Police guitarist, is doing a solo tour this summer, so I grabbed two tickets for 50 dollars each at a 300 seat venue instead.

Good morning.

I’ve been to a few concerts and several shows at Frontier Days here. I have never considered the shows here concerts though. Just part of our annual drunk fest in my mind. The only way I would go now is if Mick Jagger was strutting his stuff and that will never happen. The Stones will be in Denver this summer but the tickets are out of my budget. I’m way too old for huge crowds and way too cheap. A smaller venue sounds like bliss SG.

Today will be productive I have decided. I stashed my good sentimental jewelry at the other grandma’s when I was moving way back when and am hoping to retrieve it this afternoon. The Serenity Prayer will be in my mind with her. I will stay positive darn it.

So far it doesn't look like I'll be working the Neil Young concert, I may be posted at a Bill Burr show instead. Bummer. Dweezil will be playing at a venue I used to work at, but Frank's style was never my thing, I recognize his creative talent though. Lucky me, I do get to work two Primus shows in April, woot!

Back to working baseball tonight. Supposedly a lot of changes have been made regarding our role at Chase Field so I'm not sure what to expect, I just know that we'll have a smaller presence and mostly positioned outside the field.

I usually don’t like big crowds either, but if it’s a band I really like, then the energy is usually cool since everyone is there for the same reason.

Since I’m in STL I’m hoping Gn’R will reschedule the date they had to postpone recently. They haven’t been here since that riot back in the 90s. I feel like I would need to be at that show! :exclaimat

I'm the same way, Purps. I love music so much that I usually can stand the crowds, which I'm not crazy about and NOT mosh pits! I don't go to as many concerts as I used to, but I go sometimes, mostly because of the cost! SG, $50 isn't bad for Andy Summers at all, esp at a small venue. That should be good. All of them are such good musicians. He probably has a good band. I kind of like the concerts outside in the summer evenings. They have seats and a grass area for picnics, etc. I've seen a lot of concerts there and they were so good, most of them. When I was in a band, I was more up on the current bands, but there are still ones I like. A long time ago my sister and I went to see Cheap Trick in SF at a small venue and not expensive. We had seen them in Chicago when they were mega popular in high school and I went to college for a year in Chicago before I went to Florida State University, so I was lucky to see so many great bands in Chicago and San Francisco. When my roommate and I lived in lower Haight Ashbury, we used to go to so many clubs and got to be friends with a lot of the bands. Luckily I wasn't drinking much in those days and my roommate didn't drink at all, but a lot of the musicians I hung out with did, so luckily I wasn't imbibing much in those days. I didn't really start until later in life, which probably saved my liver. So many musicians are so cool to hang with. I had so much fun in my band in SF and met so many musicians that were even big time.
