We have the equivalent of water groundhogs...Nutria - oh - and beavers, on my river. I thought GH Day was yesterday...but don't trust me on calendars, seasons, holidays. I nearly always get it wrong.

Winter is actually hitting us for a few days, with single digit temperatures, which is cold for here. Our January temperatures averaged nearly ten degrees above normal.

Awake a little after 5:00 AM.
My father was from Pennsylvania and always joked about Punxsutawney. I thought he made it up when I was young so one year he took me there when we were visiting his family. He grew up during the depression in Narrytown which is no longer there I guess. It was in the coal mining sticks and had a general store and beer joint. The facilities were an outhouse until around 1970. I loved going there. I’ve often thought about trying to find what’s left of it.
The sunshine was wonderful yesterday and more today without brutal wind gusts. Taking 18 year old Gson to a Dr appointment and hitting Walmart which is my least favorite place.

I don't count myself as an early riser, but have been awake all night the past several nights. Can't sleep at all until around 7 or 8 am, Can't sleep in this morning tho cause I have a doctor appt.

The sunny day yesterday also produced a shadow that scared the ground hog back into hiding for 6 more weeks! But, he will be alright and so will we!
