Early Risers Check-in Thread Pt 12
4:30 AM
I’m in one of my can’t sleep when I have the opportunity and want to when I cannot.
Work day routine ahead. Son’s paperwork was screwed up so maybe a phone hearing next month. Everything happens for a reason and he was calm about it. We have had a couple of serious good conversations recently. There is always hope for both of us. What alcohol has done to us all is devastating.
Stay well dragon and a good Thursday to all.

lmvalentine: great for the communication with your son
STDragon: stay healthy with vitamin C,,,and humidifier.
Back to the middle of winter 8F strong winds and blowing snow. Rough road conditions.
Happy where I am in recovery. A lot of room for improvement.
Every other day are highs and lows alternate with physical energy.
Up at 0400...decent sleep...and again it's been in bed versus couch.
Thank you all for working.

Dragon, sometimes I feel we walk the fine line between getting sick and recovering. Sometimes we can walk back from the brink and recover without going through the whole illness trajectory.
Imvalentine, I am glad that you and your son are talking. I hope things work out in court the way that is conducive to both your son's and your recovery.
Wisc, keep warm!

Happy I am well. 2 months of upper respiratory illnesses was just too much. But got through it clean and sober.
Sleep not that great last night...but got enough. Awake at 0430.
One more day of single temps with below 0F wind chill. Above freezing tomorrow. Beautiful dark morn skies with bright half moon.
Happy to be alive and sober and kicking.

I like to look at the winter sky, especially the constellation Orion. I just read an article that one of its main stars, Betelgeuse, is rapidly dimming, as though it is approaching end of life. In just the past few months, it has gone from the 12th brightest star in the sky to the 20th. This change can be seen by the naked eye, even in urban areas. If Betelgeuse goes supernova, it will be as bright as a full moon. It's even crazier to think that the light from that star took 600 years to get to us, so that star could have died almost 600 years back and we are just about to find out. Astronomy always blows my mind!
Going from 47F to 12F by tonight. A warm front for Wisc and Imvalentine and my Canadian friends, but cold for my neck of the woods. Should make for good star gazing.
Have a good day all!

stargazer thanks I looked up Betelgeuse...amazing.
Warmer already 10F which makes it 22 degrees warmer than yesterday. Fri. the reg. temps were single digits below OF...with wind chill.
Happy not to be homeless...too many years of being transient.
Sleep was just ok...it seems like everyday my energy levels, naps, reg. sleep ebbs and flows.
And at 0417 I consider you all my SR friends...thank you helping me with this straight and narrow path....no more dire straits. --- Gregory

Good solid 8 1/2 hours sleep. I have an itch to buy a new soprano Ukulele for my collection (I gave my old away sometime ago). Minimally, there is a music store not far away that I have never visited. Think I'll go there today and see what happens.

Hope you get settled wiscsober.
Toddler Yoga? sounds dangerous.
The music store was a total disappointment. Had a little rack of Ukuleles & the sales guy couldn't even be bothered to even get me a tuner. He pretended he could tune it by ear, he couldn't. I just walked out.
Then I went back to my 'home' store and spent over an hour trying out about 7 different models. (They know that Ukes are the fastest selling instrument on the market, same reason why Fender got into the business). So yea, the end of the story is I did walk out with one.
