My alarm starting going off at 2:30 am but snooze barred a bit. Got up at 2:45 for work. Was at my parent's house last night celebrating my mother's 85th birthday.

Wisc, I don't really understand ice fishing. If I am outside during winter, I am moving around trying to not freeze to death. Fishing was always warm sunny days for me as a child.

For a long time, my vision of retirement was being able to drink at lunch everyday and be buzzed all the time without work responsibilities getting in the way. Then my drinking got to the point of breakfast drinking, well before my retirement was near. Thank goodness my priorities have shifted.

Have a good day all!

First fantastic for your mother and you to celebrate her birthday. We were gifted with our mother's long life (93).

I am not an ice fisherman. Went a couple times when in grade school.
They dress especially warm, layers 2 socks, thermal underwear, pants, snow suit, couple sweatshirts, gloves, hand warmers.

I like to keep an eye on it because it's an economic boon...from bait shops to the taverns, gas stations to grocery stores. My city is bounded by two large lakes and a river...which contribute a lot.

When I thought of going down to the weigh-in station/tavern I had immediate thoughts of drinking...so I'm going to stay away.

Well up early, I was going to post about something else but got sidetracked there. Just not comfortable with a couple guys I'm friendly with, a lot of ignorance and prejudice sealed with victimization spewing forth. My boundaries are up.

Have a great day everyone...Happy Sunday!

Up at the first alarm today at 2:20.

My wife got rear ended yesterday exiting a highway by a young kid. Everyone is okay and it looks like basically cosmetic damage to her car. We have an old 2004 Toyota that we bought for my son in case he gets his license and decides to go to school next year. I went to switch cars around in my driveway in order of morning commute and it wouldn't start. Jumped it and got it going once, but it wouldn't hold a charge. Likely a bad alternator. I was joking with my wife on the way out the door about how lucky we are to have a spare car. Now it's a tow job and more expense. Life is funny sometimes. I started to get angry like I tend to do in these situations, but really ended up laughing. Typical.

I hope everyone is surviving the massive snows. We have had a ton of rain and a storm a few days back with a large hail line passing through. A very mild winter thus far, thanks to the Polar Vortex apparently. Or global warming. Anyway, I hear that things are shifting back to winter once again. Though it is supposed to rain the entire day once again.

Have a good Monday all!

stargazer-- very good your wife is alright. Maybe a new battery? Sometimes once they lose their charge they won't hold a new one very long. If the sides are deformed or slightly bulged...then a new one is in order. But you knew that!

Up at 0400. Quiet and crisp cold morning. The super moon is exceptionally illuminous. I definitely need new glasses. Had some alone time with a great cup of coffee...my mind wasn't quiet compared to yesterday.

Reviewing the 12 steps of AA & NA...the literature. I always enjoyed Alanon meetings too.

We got plenty of snow to boot! Now just downright freezing.

Couldn't sleep so got up at 3am.

I needed an early start anyway, so works for me.

2:00ish AM

One of those nights when sleep was elusive. Could definitely go back to bed now but have things to do today. Son’s parole hearing is today and I’ve had swirling emotions about it,
It is 1 degree outside with no wind thankfully, BRRr!
I actually baked healthy muffins and cookies yesterday. Trying to cut down on sugar intake and eat better is a challenge.

A terrific Tuesday to all.

I didn't realize how challenging it would be, and the amount of sugar even not added was enormous. An ounce of sugar a day is 22 lbs. a year. I would not be surprised if over my life there were days I ate/drank 1 pound.

OMG, -26c with a -40c windchill, winds gusting to 51 Km/h. We are under an extreme cold warning today. Can I just go back to bed?

Yesterday afternoon/ evening, I was sure I was coming down with something. I felt 'virusy' and had been sneezing and snuffeling all day. Miraculously, I slept well and only have a sinus headache this morning. Keeping my fingers crossed.
