Why education matters...

' The educated are free because they are able to leave their bonds behind and use their minds, to imagine, explore and challenge existing thoughts and theories.' Epictetus

What Epictetus meant by this is that the process of learning new things and using those new things learned to test our own existing view of the world and, in recovery ourselves.

As the main problem for the alcoholic centers in the mind ,'Alcoholics Anonymous' and alcoholism is sometimes referred to as 'then Disease of Perception, it's not to difficult. Whatever path to recovery you choose, why education matters..

Education is knowledge, knowledge is power, and power is king.
6 years in and im the king of my castle.
Fail to prepare then prepare to fail, it really is as simple as that.

thank you for this. i've found that the more I've taken the time to learn about recovery, the more at peace I feel. am I happy all the time? of course not. but there is power in understanding. because you can learn to accept.

I'm an Epictitus fan. We really need to challenge our thoughts continually.

I think he also wrote this.....Who then remaims unconquerable. He whom the inevitable cannot overcome~

I just put down reading “ Meditations” by Marcus Aurelius to check in here. He, together with Epictetus and Musonius Rufus are my “go to” thought-for-the-day writers. Using the thoughts of the Stoics as a template for ones own life can help with life’s direction.”
