Enhancing you recovery..
First attracted to Stoic philosophy after reading an article on the website, Modern Stoicism about its links to the Serenity Prayer, which starts my daily prayers, even today well over eleven years into my recovery....a day at a time.
I've found, what are known as the Stoic Virtues, i.e. to the best of my ability exercising practical wisdom, temperance (self control), courage both in my dealings with others and myself, and to be just. Not only , enhance and strengthen my recovery, buy provide a useful and constructive framework which I can anchor myself to. That I can keep to hand when I face life's daily adversity, that without them, may lead to the temptation to pick up a drink...
Bearing in mind that Stoic philosophy is not, as many misguided people think, about repressing emotions IT IS about transforming them...
Of course others may have their own way of enhancing and strengthening their recovery, of which, I for one would love to hear about...
