It's the journey not the destination..
It's the journey not the destination..
With a nod of acknowledgement to Ralph Waldo Emerson, 'It's the journey, not the destination in which the joy is found' or as the late Charlie Parmley , one half of 'Joe Charlie's:Big Book Study Meeting' which helped many, including me, to recover from drinking.
'It's not the meetings we make but the steps we take,' done in your own time, a day at a time without the requirement to take a drink and, I'd suggest he help of 'the God of your understanding' who may be a He, She or It. But is personal to you.
The greatest joy comes from the small life affirming victories that those in recovery receive everyday. Not from the end product but about yourself and the world about you that will nurture and support you as you progress in recovery that you can't fake or buy and that certainly don't exist in alcohol. They exist, if you let them in your mind and like your soul, no one can take either them or it from you, ever!
