Sobriety!
Sobriety!
For me, and I think there's few, drunk or sober who would disagree with this The goal of recovery of recovery is protracted, long lasting sobriety!
Attained by complete abstinence, from intoxicants wherever they may be found.
Which I and others define as living in the natural state of a human being, mentally, physically and spiritually with equanimity, in all areas.
Bearing in mind what Vine Deloria, a Sioux Indian said,
'Religion is for those who are afraid of going to hell.
Spirituality is for those who've already been there.'

Great response...
As I and I'm sure many of us did, attending the church of 'King Alcohol' on a daily basis until changing my perception I entered 'The Realm of Spirituality.' Which,in truth existed in me all the time, once I ceased the delusional thinking imposed on me at my former place of worship, where I found peace, serenity and sobriety...
I agree with you 100% Redmayne. I have a long and winding history with many substances that alter the mind. Alcohol became my drug of choice fairly recently out of convenience. Gradually it took the #1 spot and I wasn't as interested in the others.
One important thing that's so different in my thinking this time is that I must be completely free of alcohol, pot, and any other mind altering substances. I am completely convinced of this. No alcohol ever again and no anything else ever again.
We do become addicted to altering our minds these ways. Only when we truly understand this can we do something about it. You're never really sober if you continue to desire to drink. You're never really clean if you continue to desire to get high.
But living this way is not a punishment. It's truly a gift.
