Borrowing a line...
I must admit, borrowing Frank Costello's (Jack Nicholson's) line in Scorsese's film 'The Departed' these days I tend to approach my recovery along the lines of saying,'I don't want to be part of my environment. I want the environment to be part of my business.'
The word business, not used in commercial terms but recovery,my recovery and with it my sobriety. Which not only lends itself to the way I conduct myself in my everyday existence which includes my environment but restores a sense of dignity to my place in the world and has, in my case and I'm sure many others, gone a long way to banish the frear, guilt, self loathing and low self esteem felt in my drinking days. Who have now themselves become 'The Departed'....
