Good morning Early Risers

Last day of my Holidays vacations today and it will be back to work tomorrow after 12 days off.

Not exactly excited about going back to sit in my office but I have a really good job and I know I should be grateful for that.

I had some really strong AV attacks around Christmas and even had to call for help because I was starting to "plan" how a relapse would happen...
I was like those sailors who tied themselves to the masts of the boat to resist the sirens' songs. Anything to win that war!!



I resisted and it's now behind me.
I feel ashamed of myself for having thoughts about drinking and relapsing after a whole year sober...

Back to work myself after 10 days off.

CK- One of my worst times was when I was 20 months in recovery. I scared the crap out of me. I had it planned for just 1 pint. I sat and thought and thought. God had a friend from the program call and saved my dumb butt.

CK, I think it is common to have the AV try to reassert itself during the Christmas and New Year's stretch. It seems that everyone in the world is drinking and having a great time. I also had some drinking thoughts after hitting a year sober. Kind of like " I went a year, so I know that I can handle this now" and "I deserve a drink after a year" and so on.

Nothing to be ashamed about. Good job riding the waves!

I was taught early on how to talk back to the AV. That voice is mostly quiet...

Going to meetings these past two weeks sure helped!

Cancer Center is great but the Dr doing this and the hospital not so great. Lack of communication with cancer team it seems. Don’t know if I’ll be held prisoner overnight yet. I’ll quit whining now!
