Based on the premise that alcoholism is the only disease/illness that will kill you whilst at the same time telling you, you haven'/t got it. The only respite from which is absolute abstinence.
It therefore follows that whilst others may share their experience, strength and hope with you, sobriety is an individual responsibility.
Accepting these facts and as we all exist in our state of mind which allows us to think cognitively (truth and reason) it logically follows that for any individual, including myself recovery from it exists when I say it is...
Allowing for the fact that it is the quality not quantity of any individuals recovery accompanied by sobriety that provides evidence of this, with the proviso, taken from a Buddhist saying, 'Anything that contradicts logic and experience should be abandoned'...
