The best of times,the worst of times...
Alcoholism: a physical allergy and a mental obsession. A by product of which is a spiritual malady...
In recovery, the physical allergy, with abstinence will diminish and the body will heal itself assisted by diet and exercise.
The mental obsession will also diminish provided I, and no one else can do this. Direct my thoughts, emotions etc. towards only those people and things that not only heal it but are beneficial to both it and ultimately me. For I am the essence of it...will heal.
In my attempts , by whatever means the spiritual malady will also diminish, to make spiritual progress...
Thus providing others and myself, the best of times born out of experiencing the worst of times...
