Three of the commonest mistakes made in recovery...
With a 'drinking history of thirty years behind me and now well over eight years of sobriety, I'd suggest that three of the commonest mistakes made in recovery are,
1. People failing to realise we all exist in our state of minds...
2. The only obligation we have in our lifetimes is to be true to ourselves.
3. No one can be all things to all men.
The suggested 12 Step programme of recovery in the book 'Alcoholics Anonymous', upon which, from a press report view earlier this year, 92% of rehabilitation and detoxification facilities in the US model their programmes. Is a 'selfish programme', designed for the individual. Whilst others can share their experience, strength and hope with you, no one can do it for you!
Which in turn suggests, taking into account what I've said beforehand, is that in order to avoid these mistakes, it might be a good idea to start living in the solution than the problem...

I love this. I think it applies to so much more then drinking... Fallacy of mankind, perhaps. I wonder if it's modern or if it's always been a tendency of humanity?
