Learning to smell the flowers...
Learning to smell the flowers...
One of the greatest things I gained from recovery was the realisation that you can't stop the world but you, yourself can 'stop and smell the flowers'..once, as they say in AA, you stop living in the problem and start living in the solution.
Getting rid of your ego and all that goes with it, none of it good, and gaining more awareness of the people and world around you...after all, what did you get sober for?
If not for the opportunity to be yourself as you really are and smell the flowers...

I had plenty.
An old girlfriend used to say, "wake up and smell the coffee."
Sure is nice being sober and seeing things in a new light.

'Life doesn't stop for you...
Thank you, I like this taken from an article by L.S.Mulcrone, Editor MSUToday,
'Life doesn't stop for you, so you have to stop it,'
Only then do you 'smell the flowers' or 'wake up and smell the coffee'...go to sleep in the park and you may end up doing both at the same time! ;-)
