An apt description..

Given the title of this forum the following provides, to me and I'd suggest many others, an apt description of what I perceive, given my own recovery of what takes place in the process of recovery... that goes a long way to making it all worthwhile,

' It's a slow process, changing principles, and you'll never know they've changed until something that used to feel right just doesn't feel that way any more,'

'Messiah's Handbook - Reminders to the Advanced Soul,' - Richard Bach.

Which also includes...

Which also includes, clearing away the wreckage of the past - see penultimate para., p. 164, 'Alcoholics Anonymous' 4th Ed.

Ooh, ooh, apt and apropos quotes! One of my favorite addictions...

I must pitch in with the sage voice of "Alice In Wonderland":

'Alice: "This is impossible."'
'Mad Hatter: "Only if you believe it is."

"How long is forever? Sometimes, just one second."

"There is a place, like no place on earth. A land full of wonder, mystery and danger! Some say, to survive it, one must be mad as a hatter - which, luckily, I am!"

And because I like things in threes, my favorite number:

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the song without any words
And never stops, at all
- Emily Dickinson

You only live once? False, you live every day. You only die once.
- dunno who

"It's a funny thing. The harder I work, the luckier I get."
- Arnold Palmer (and my dad)

All are bits of what recovery is to me!

Oh well...

Thanks for that, really great! To which an apt reply might be, ' Men are not disturbed by things, but their view (perspective) of things,' - Epictetus, then again he's also credited with saying,' We're all just little souls dragging a corpse (sentient being) round,' most people get it the other way around... life would be so much simpler if they didn't ...

Cool

Every time I see Alice and the Mad Hatter, I'm reminded of.....................: Blind as a bat, mad as a hatter, red as a beet, hot as Hades (or hot as a hare), dry as a bone, the bowel and bladder lose their tone, and the heart runs alone.

Now, name that drug..........a hint.......? think the four anti's of antihistamines, antipsychotics, antidepressants, and antiparkinsonian drugs, as well as atropine, benztropine, datura, and scopolamine.

I love this! I also couldn't find out where the quote originated but I'm updating my signature with it!

Thank You

Not so sure it is always a slow process "On the other hand-and strange as this may seem to those who do not understand-once a psychic change has occurred, the very same person who seemed doomed, who had so many problems he despaired of ever solving them, suddenly finds himself easily able to control his desire for alcohol, the only effort necessary being that required to follow a few simple rules."

It would have been extremely slow had I been trying to engineer my own recovery, but istead I found a much more competent engineer and gave the project to him.

It's a matter of perception...

Thank you, there's truth in all you say, I suppose it's just a matter of how you perceive others and yourself... progress in recovery.

The fact you recover is all that really matters balanced against the fact that, regrettably, many don't ...
