Every day's a present.

'I need a present,' said Cashin,'Long time since anyone gave me a present.'

'Being alive's a present,' said Rebb,'Every minute of every hour of every day.'

This exchange between homicide detective, Joe Cashin, broken by his last case and currently running a one-man police station in South Eastern Australia and Dave Rebb, a 'swaggie' or itinerant swagman, who volunteered to wok with him rebuilding his old family home. Taken from Paul Temple's, 'The Broken Shore.'

Resonated with me, as an example of the very nature of recovery, as it's a feeling I, and I hope many others in recovery, share on a daily basis.

Read only yesterday, as the year ends, it was a timely reminder of what there is to celebrate about what's best about recovery, not only in the past year or years passed, but everything that's to come. Especially in the New Year....when, for me, every day really is a present, which we all share.
