What recovery means to me is that I'm a human being trying to live with the disease/illness of alcohol that. for so many years has blocked me off from living my life exactly as it's meant to be and allowing me to be my true self.

In my case this means belief in and practising, on a daily basis the principles and philosophy outlined in the suggested 12 Step progamme of recovery of the book 'Alcoholics Anonymous'. Without getting tied up or bogged down in the pseudo-psychology and mumbo jumbo that is either offered or associates itself with that very topic from various sources.

Others are perfectly free to pursue their own paths, beliefs and faiths, with which I not only take no issue. To the point where I accept they might even add to or enhance this but I work on the basis that anything that contradicts logic and experience should be abandoned.
